Emeriti Park is a scenic four-acre site along South Green Drive, situated on the former bed of the Hocking River. It includes a pond, picturesque flowerbeds, benches, trees, fountains and a waterfall. A gazebo has been added at the northwestern edge of the park (to the left of the region shown in the photo above).
The stately wrought iron and brick entranceway is named in honor of Emeritus William Kennard.
History of the Park
Emeriti Park was dedicated on November 20, 2000. The project was financed by Ohio University, The Ohio University Foundation, and individual gifts.
The park offers opportunities for individuals or groups to honor and remember people who have played sigificant roles in their college careers.
Emeritus William Kennard was Vice President for Finance and Treasurer. He retired from Ohio University after serving the university for 31 years.
