Open to the public, there is a suggested donation of $10 per person for this evening recital.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome internationally acclaimed pianist Joyce Yang to Ohio University as the featured artist for the 2018 Ohio University Piano Pedagogy Seminar. Joyce is an extraordinary artist who will undoubtedly deliver a powerful and deeply communicative recital. This recital is one not to be missed.” —Christopher Fisher, founder and artistic director of the Ohio University Piano Pedagogy Seminar.

This recital will feature selections by composers Grieg, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, Janacek and Liszt.

Blessed with “poetic and sensitive pianism” (Washington Post) and a “wondrous sense of color” (San Francisco Classical Voice), pianist Joyce Yang captivates audiences with her virtuosity, lyricism and interpretive sensitivity. As a Van Cliburn International Piano Competition silver medalist and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, Yang showcases her colorful musical personality in solo recitals and collaborations with the world’s top orchestras and chamber musicians.

Part of the University’s Piano Pedagogy Seminar, in conjunction with the OHIO Summer Music Camp, Yang’s visit includes this public recital and a master class for registered participants. The Ohio University Piano Pedagogy Seminar, June 22–23, provides piano teachers and students with professional enrichment opportunities through a series of energizing workshops, presentations and performances, exploring a variety of relevant and stimulating topics. Participants will have opportunities to share ideas and engage in dialogue with clinicians and with one another through round-table discussions and informal conversations.
