Undergraduate Certificates

Several undergraduate certificates are offered to College of Fine Arts students and a few are available to students of all majors. Deepen your arts education with the specialized fields and focus found by earning a certificate in one of many areas in the Fine Arts.

 

Actor Musicianship: Theater Focus (24 hours)

The Actor Musicianship: Theater Focus Certificate can be completed in 24 hours and is designed primarily for existing music majors who wish to develop the necessary skills for actor musicianship outside their major of study.

Actor Musicianship: Music Focus (24 hours)

The Actor Musicianship: Music Focus Certificate can be completed in 24 hours and is designed primarily for existing theater majors who wish to develop the necessary skills for actor musicianship outside their major of study.

Music Composition (15 hours)

The program emphasizes the skills, content knowledge, and experiences essential to a composer in the 21st century including three semesters of individual lessons, a course in orchestration, courses in music software and sound studies, and courses in advanced music theory. There is a minimum of 15 hours required for completion.

Dance Production (15 hours)

The undergraduate Certificate in Dance Production is for dance, theater, musical theater, and theater production/design/technology students, as well as other interested students, who wish to gain a deeper knowledge of the differentiation between Lighting and Production for Theater vs. Lighting and Production for Dance. Requires 15 hours for completion.

Museum Studies (21 hours)

Students in the program will learn about the inner operations of nonprofit and arts and cultural heritage organizations; have an opportunity to work directly with objects and artifacts; become immersed in current museum methods and cultural heritage literature; and learn about networking and resume-building opportunities. Requires 15 hours for completion. This program requires a minimum of 21 hours.

Biomedical Arts (22 hours)

This certificate is open to any degree-seeking, undergraduate students and can be completed in 22 hours of a minimum of 3 terms. It is especially valuable to Studio Art and Graphic Design students, as well as those in the fields of Medicine, Biology and Natural Sciences.
