Daniel Asamoah Opoku

Daniel Asamoah Opoku is a first year MFA Graphic Design Candidate at Ohio University. His upbringing in Kumasi, the richest cultural city in Ghana is the reason for his cultural inquisitiveness. His special interest is in Akan Adinkra symbols, its evolution and external influences from the western world during and after the colonial era and its relationship to the African American Culture. He seeks to develop letterforms from Akan Adinkra symbols. 

Daniel served as a graphic designer on the book titled “Unveiling the unadulterated life of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Apem II, Queen mother (1997 – 2016) of the Asante Kingdom” (the West African Imperial power that dominated the West  African territory before the confrontation of British and her allies in 1900) at Manhyia Palace from November 2014 to November 2016. 

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Design from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana where he graduated in July 2016.
