State of the Arts — Call for Entries

State of the Arts Exhibition

You are invited to participate in a new concept to an old show— the State of the Arts is adding a mentor/mentee component this year, producing something new!

Ohio University's juried exhibition open to all high school art educators currently teaching visual arts in Ohio and the surrounding region. Submission's are juried by School of Art + Design faculty, with awards selected by an outside guest juror.

This year’s selected artists will have the opportunity to showcase one of their best students to represent your high school together, in this juried exhibit at the Ohio University Art Gallery, on view September 18–October 8, 2018, in Athens, Ohio.
Awards juried by celebrated alumni artist, and Guggenheim Fellow, Craig Drennen.

You Are Invited: Juror, Craig Drennen, will announce the State of the Arts award winners during the annual School of Art + Design Welcome Back Party, at 6pm, on Thursday, Sept. 27 in Seigfred Hall, Athens, OH. We hope to see you there!

Join us later the same evening for the reception for Collage Improvisations, a retrospective exhibit for OHIO painting faculty/artist Robert Peppers, in the Trisolini Gallery from 6-8pm—all are welcome!

Entry Fee is Only $25
Awards: $500 // $250 // $100 

Notification of accepted work: Sept. 2


Shipped artwork should arrive by: Sept. 12, by 5pm (include return shipping label)
In-person delivery of artwork: Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9, 12-3pm

Exhibition dates: Sept. 18–Oct. 8
Juried Awards Event: Thursday, Sept. 27 at 6pm 
Closing Reception: Monday, Oct. 8 at 1–3pm

Pick-up artwork in-person: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 13–14, 12–3pm

Experience the Arts Day is Monday, Oct. 8, 1–3 p.m.
