The OHIO Summer Arts programs offer new and exciting in-residence, day camps, and workshops in acting, dance, filmmaking, music, and the visual arts. Taught by professional artists and designed to accommodate an inclusive community of art-interested participants at a variety of ages and skill levels. TANTRUM KIDS THEATER CAMP (ATHENS)
MAY 29–JUNE 1 | 10AM–4PM | $170.00 (Pay Now)
Ages 8–13

This camp develops fundamental performance skills in presence, voice, movement and creative expression. It cultivates self-expression, imagination, creativity, and collaboration, and culminates in an informal performance open to the public.


DIY SOCK ART DOLL
JUNE 11–14 | M–TH | 6–8 PM | $35 (Pay Now)

All ages, accompanied children welcome (hand sewing involved) 

Join Danette Pratt, the designer of Seriously SickSocks™ in this fun four-day workshop to construct a jointed 12” art-doll made from new or recycled socks. Basic materials included, also encouraged to bring your own materials. 


OHIO SUMMER BAND CAMP

Ages 13–18 

Join us in beautiful Athens, Ohio to make music with the renowned faculty of the Ohio University School of Music. This camp is designed for high school brass, woodwind and percussion students who want to enhance their musicianship and interact with other student musicians from across the state and region. Develop your music skills through large ensemble participation, master classes, lessons, academic classes, and concerts.

Ages 13–18

The Ohio University Summer Piano Camp provides pre-collegiate students with the opportunity to study piano in a stimulating and nurturing learning environment under the guidance of our distinguished artist faculty. This intensive program provides participants with both individual and group instruction, supervised practice time, master classes, ensemble study, performance opportunities, seminars on a variety of topics as well as planned recreational activities.

BROADWAY AT OHIO: SUMMER MUSICAL THEATER CAMP

Broadway at OHIO offers top-notch musical theater training for talented and aspiring high school students. Participants will receive classes in acting, dance, singing and audition techniques, and present a public performance Saturday the 23rd!


MURAL DESIGN PROGRAM

Ages 13–18 

Students will work with artist Barry O’Keefe, who has organized and produced several public arts projects in Athens County including the Nelsonville Music Festival Boxcar Stage. This project will give students practical experience working at the increasingly relevant intersection of design, fine art and community activism. 


DAVID DORFMAN SUMMER DANCE INSTITUTE
JUNE 17–29 $1100 FOR ALL CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES  (Pay Now)

Visiting Artist: David Dorfman
Open to pre-professional and professional dancers ages 16 and older. 

Two weeks of fun, rigorous, and impassioned dancing. Daily technique, composition, improvisation, somatic, and repertory classes with David Dorfman, Lisa Race, and company members. Nightly activities including open rehearsals, lectures, demonstrations, wellness workshops, and improv jams—and a public showing and celebration of student work on June 29th. Scholarships available. Housing and meal options available for all students. Deadline for application is May 1, 2018.

WATERCOLOR SKETCHING ON STROUDS RUN!

Tap into your creativity as you explore beautiful Strouds Run State Park! Sit lakeside as you learn tips and tricks of plein air watercolor sketching. Basic materials included. 


“CAMPFIRE STORIES” LEARN TO MAKE AN ANIMATION!
JULY 9–13 | 9AM–3PM | $220 (Pay Now)

Ages 10–14 

Through DIY puppetry we will explore different techniques to build a “campfire” story. Learn to make an animation from pre-production to post-production. Script, storyboard, shoot! 


SYMPOSIUM: THE ROLE OF ARTS IN COMMUNITY WELLNESS

Gather with enquiring educators for an exchange of ideas as we invite you to meet local artists / authors for lectures, discussions, and art (based play) activities. Explore a guided play experience based on the restorative possibilities of art making and the Creative Abundance Model as first established at Passion Works Studio. No art training is required. SUMMER MUSIC WEEK

ACMS Summer Music Week is an experience-based music day camp for rising 1st-8th graders held July 23-27, 2018 in Glidden Hall. Get introduced to drumming, guitar, piano, singing, or ukulele in a program where you pick the schedule! Expanded afternoon classes in piano ensemble, musical theater, and rhythm are now available.
