Seeking New Board Members! (Application Deadline May 1, 2016)
(SoMSAF) is now accepting applications and nominations to fill vacant Board positions. The SoMSAF’s mission is to promote the general welfare of the School of Music by providing alumni and friends opportunities to advise, support, and communicate with the School of Music. The SoMSAF Board serves as a leadership body to manage the activities of the SoMSAF.
Responsibilities and Activities of Board members:
Serve a three year term
New members’ terms would begin in Fall 2016, and end in Spring 2019
Attend (in-person or via phone) bi-monthly meetings.
Actively participate in a committee. Current committees are as follows:
Nominations and Elections
Marketing and Communications
Serve as an ambassador for the SoMSAF and the SoMSAF community.
Timeline for Board member election process:
May 1, 2016 - Deadline for submission of applications or nominations for Board positions
May 21, 2016 - Current SoMSAF Board members vote on new membership
Fall 2017 - new Board members begin their term

The Society is officially chartered by, recognized by, and affiliated with the Ohio University Alumni Association.
The Society is open to all alumni and friends of the School of Music. Alumni are those who have successfully completed at least one year of study in the School of Music.
The School of Music Society of Alumni and Friends, chartered in 1984, is led by a 15-member Board of Directors. The Board meets on campus twice a year in an advisory capacity to the Director of the School. Several awards are presented by the Society including Service and Certificate of Appreciation, Achievement in Music, and the Society of Alumni and Friends Endowed Scholarship. The Board's committees work with recruitment, student programs, and public relations. Members of the Board participate annually in the School of Music Honors Assembly and the Ohio Music Educators Conference Alumni Reception.

We are also interested in hearing from our alums about their favorite memories in the School of Music, the impact of a professor on their lives, or a perspective "from the field" about how your professional life was shaped by your OU education.
