Vanessa Bahr

M.F.A. Printmaking

Vanessa Jo Bahr, originally from Chicago, Illinois, graduated from Regis University in Denver, Colorado in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a minor in education. She received her teaching licensure in art for K-12 and has worked as an art instructor in schools and art centers in both Colorado and Oregon for the past 12 years. Her primary form of expression is printmaking, mainly linocuts and intaglio carvings but she also works with leather, bone, and wood in other artistic endeavors. The intention of her work is to invoke an appreciation for Earth’s flora and fauna that spans across cultures and transcends time. Her works aims to preserve a reverence for artifacts such as plants, bones, skulls and flowers while exploring the duality of our concept of life and death and to portray them as equally sacred.
