Ian grew up in Western Kentucky, where he discovered his love of storytelling. He earned his BA in Film from Western Kentucky University, where he first learned many of the technical aspects of filmmaking. There he created several short films, including an undergraduate thesis film, Chivalrous. After graduating, Ian moved to Nashville where he worked on many freelance and commercial film productions. In the MFA program, he hopes to expand his knowledge in film as well as the skills in creating them.  

Ian is hoping to teach film at a college level after graduating. He will also continue to create his own work along with helping the work of others. Ian’s films tend to emphasize the connections between people.
