Senior Assistant Director of Recruitment

Jessica Fox is an accomplished arts leader, educator, and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in dance performance, choreography, somatic research, and arts administration. In her role as Senior Assistant Director of Recruitment for the Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts at Ohio University, Fox oversees strategic enrollment initiatives, manages campus tours and academic visits, and leads audition days for prospective students both on and off campus. She also directs major recruitment events, including Experience the Arts Day, which brings hundreds of students and families to campus for immersive arts programming.

Previously, Fox served as the founder and Artistic Director of 4th Avenue Arts in Huntington, WV, where she led the organization for 19 years before its recent closure. During her tenure, she secured competitive grants, developed innovative programming, and built partnerships that expanded arts accessibility throughout the region. She continues her work as Executive Director of JDG: The Migration Project, a nonprofit dance company she has led for two decades. Through this initiative, Fox has cultivated longstanding collaborations with the Huntington Museum of Art, Cabell and Lawrence County Public Libraries, and regional school systems. Over the past 16 years, her original choreography has reached 24,960 students in Cabell County, WV, and the surrounding communities through arts-integrated programming that connects dance with cultural and historical themes.

Fox’s professional dance career includes performance credits with City Dance Ensemble (Washington, D.C.), Troika Ranch Dance Company (U.S./Germany), Gina Gibney Dance (NYC), Cleveland Dance Festival (OH), and KDNY Dance Company (NYC). Her choreography has been featured in university productions, community projects, and national festivals, including Gooseroute Dance Festival (WV), RadFest (MI), Cleveland Dance Festival (OH), Arts Alive (WV), West Virginia Dance Festival (WV), Greenberg Theater (D.C.), The Eleanor D. Wilson Museum (VA), and The Jack Guidone Theater (D.C.).

As a movement educator, Fox currently teaches in the School of Dance and Theater at Ohio University. Her previous teaching experience includes The Washington Ballet (D.C.), The Blackrock Center for the Arts (MD), Marshall University (WV), Gallaudet University (D.C.), West Virginia Governor’s School for the Arts (WV), The Clay Center for the Arts (WV), the DEA Youth Dance Program (WV), Body College (D.C.), and Hot Yoga Studios (D.C./MD). Her current research explores somatic practices and the integration of bringing embodied awareness into diverse environments.

Fox is also an experienced festival producer and advocate for interdisciplinary arts. She served as Festival Director for the Big River Dance & Film Festival, curating multi-day events that featured live performances, film screenings, donor engagements, and community workshops. Her leadership brought together national and international artists, creating a platform for innovative dance and film collaborations. In addition to producing, Fox is a nationally funded and award-winning dance-on-film artist.

Her entrepreneurial work includes founding 4th Avenue Pilates, a holistic movement studio that combined Pilates, Yoga, and somatic practices to promote wellness and functional strength. Through this venture, Fox not only provided individualized instruction but also mentored and certified numerous trainers who now teach regionally and nationally, shaping a network of professionals committed to excellence in movement education.

Jessica Fox holds an MFA in Dance from Hollins University in collaboration with the Forsythe Studios and the University of Frankfurt (GER) and a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from Ohio University. She is certified in Pilates, Yoga, Reiki, and the American Ballet Theatre curriculum. Her career is defined by a commitment to arts advocacy, education, and creating transformative experiences that empower both artists and communities.
