Jessica Baldwin
Assistant Professor of Instruction, Voice
Jessica Baldwin is Assistant Professor of Instruction in Voice at Ohio University’s School of Music, where she specializes in contemporary and commercial vocal technique and popular music pedagogy, serving both the CMDI and Music Therapy programs. She focuses on helping singers develop sustainable vocal practices, strong artistic identities, and the self-direction they need to thrive as independent artists. Baldwin also serves as Guest Faculty with the Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute (CCM Institute), teaching modern vocal pedagogy to educators and performers from across the United States and abroad. An award-winning performer and songwriter, she has released original recordings, including her debut album ANIMA, appeared on national stages, and collaborated across jazz, indie, folk, and soul genres. Her artist work has been featured on NPR and PBS, and her pedagogy work in publications such as Action-Based Approaches in Popular Music Education and The Vocal Athlete (3rd ed.) Baldwin is the author of A Singer’s Guide to Finding Your Style and Artistic Voice and is active as an artist-development coach, guiding singers and creatives through stylistic growth, career transitions, and the cultivation of sustainable, authentic artistic practice.
