Services Provided

The Emergency Medicine Club at the Heritage College strives to educate osteopathic medical students about the profession of emergency medicine using an osteopathic philosophy. As a club focused on appropriate response to medical emergencies, we aim to teach all club members basic life saving knowledge, including adequate intervention in emergent situations and hands on tourniquet application. We volunteer our time annually at the local marathon, providing our assistance at the medical tent and at other locations throughout the race.

Tentative Schedule for 2023-2024

We will have a series of meetings through the fall and spring semesters, with a primary goal for our members to gain new knowledge or perspective from each club event. We plan to hold a lab event as our first hands-on meeting, educating our members on either splinting or phlebotomy. We will also host a physician's panel and volunteer at the Columbus Marathon. We will end the fall semester with an ultrasound or suture lab. To kick off the spring semester, we will host a trauma surgery panel. We will also host a Stop the Bleed event and take part in the Until Help Arrives event sponsored by the Washington Township Fire Department, both meetings that will enhance members' lifesaving medical knowledge. These events are subject to change, and it is expected more events will be added throughout the year.
