Our Mission
As the educational and scientific national society for the American Society of Addiction Medicine practitioners, we must promote and cultivate a national community of dedicated trainee leaders, who strive to promote health, treat disease, and innovate the practice of health care. The Addiction Medicine club and ASAM is dedicated to increasing access and improving the quality of addiction treatment, educating physicians and the public, supporting research and prevention, and promoting the appropriate role of physicians in the care of patients with addiction.

This organization, as an interest group of ASAM, will strive to raise awareness of addiction medicine and promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles in the members of the Ohio University campus, Cleveland community, and surrounding communities. This organization will do so through the implementation of a variety of fun, educational activities as chosen by the Addiction Club members.
Tentative Schedule for 2023-2024
We plan on hosting Narcan training for our club members, as well as inviting speakers from the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to give us an overview of their Summer Institute for Medical Students program. Additionally, we plan on inviting speakers throughout the year to help educate students on the complexities of addiction and prepare them for a career in medicine! We intend to finance these events through dues as well as "Dress Down Day" fundraisers. Additionally we are looking to collaborate with other organizations like Emergency Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine to learn more about Addiction Medicine.
