Winter Break Information

Winter Break

Hall Information

During the winter break period, students will be required to transition into new temporary assignments if their hall is not open during the break period. Winter break housing will be available in most West Green halls as well as River Park, River Gate, River's Edge, and Skyview. Students in all other halls will be required to temporarily relocate to an open hall on West Green.

To ensure spaces are cleaned prior to students arriving for the spring semester, winter break residents who will be residing on campus for spring 2025 will be transitioned to their permanent spring assignment on Tuesday, January 7.

If a student staying over the break period needs to relocate to a temporary housing assignment, the new assignment and check-in instructions will be communicated by Wednesday, December 11 to their OHIO email account.

Dates

Winter Break housing, or interim housing, is available from Saturday, December 14 through Thursday, January 10.

Application Details

The Winter Break Housing Application will open as of November 1 and is required to reside on campus during the winter break period.

To complete the application, students can visit their Housing Self-Service page, click on the ‘Contracts & Applications’ tab, and select Winter Break Housing Application.

Cancellation Information

If a student makes a reservation for interim housing over winter break, and no longer needs housing, the student needs to email housing@ohio.edu to cancel.

Please note, the university, including the Office of Housing and Residence Life is closed Wednesday, December 25 through Wednesday, January 1 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, January 2.

Cost

The cost for winter break housing is $30/night, $125/week, or $400/month and will be charged directly to the student's account after the conclusion of the winter break period.

Food Service and Options

The last meal served on the fall meal plan will be dinner on Friday, December 13. Learn about the dining venue operational hours over the winter break period.

Mail

Mail Services may have limited to no operation after fall semester closing and the winter break period.
