Summer Housing

Hall Information:

Students attending classes for the summer will be housed in Ryors Hall and James Hall on West Green.

Dates:

First Summer Session

  • Friday, May 12, 2023
    • Last day to reduce a meal plan for first or full summer session students
    • Residence halls open 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for new first-year and returning students
  • Sunday, May 14, 2023
    • First meal under board plan (dinner) for first summer session at The District on West Green
  • Monday, May 15, 2023
    • First day of first session classes
  • Saturday, May 20, 2023
    • Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 60% housing refund
  • Saturday, May 27, 2023
    • Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 40% housing refund
  • Saturday, July 1, 2023
    • First summer session only residents must vacate the residence hall by 12 p.m. (noon)

Second Summer Session

  • Friday, June 30, 2023
    • Residence halls open 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for new students beginning second summer session
  • Sunday, July 2, 2023
    • Residence halls open 12 p.m. (noon) for returning students beginning second summer session
    • First meal under board plan (dinner) for second session at The District on West Green
  • Monday, July 3, 2023
    • First day of second session classes
  • Saturday, July 8, 2023
    • Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 60% housing refund
  • Saturday, July 15, 2023
    • Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 40% housing refund
  • Friday, August 18, 2023
    • Residence hall closes at 8 p.m. for summer school

The Summer Student Contract 2237 is available on student’s Housing Self-Service page.

Cancellation and Refund Information:

Refunds are made only for students who withdraw from Ohio University or do not attend Ohio University for the summer term.

  • Prior to Hall Opening - 100%
  • Through 1st Week - 60%
  • Through 2nd Week - 40%
  • Through 3rd Week - No refund

All cancellations must be submitted in writing (e-mail, fax, or regular mail) to the Housing and Residence Life Office.

Students paying for both summer sessions will receive a full refund for the second summer session if cancellation is received by the Housing and Residence Life Office in writing prior to the last business day before the second summer semester classes begin.

Food Service and Options:

Meal plans start and end dates will depend on the sessions students are attending and hold an associated meal plan for.

  • First day of a meal plan for summer session 1 is dinner on Sunday, May 14
  • Last day of a meal plan for summer session 1 is dinner Friday, June 30
  • First day of a meal plan for summer session 2 is dinner Sunday, July 2
  • Last day of a meal plan for summer session 2 is dinner Friday, August 18

Mail:

You may ship items to your campus address. Please time such shipments so that they correspond with your arrival and time on campus. Items will be shipped to the summer hall’s green mail center.

Transportation and Parking:

A valid parking permit is required if parking on campus during the summer. Permits will be available beginning April 15 at 9 a.m. for summer residential students. Residential permits are required for overnight parking and must be purchased through the Parking Portal.
