Physical Activity & Wellness Program (PAW)
The Physical Activity and Wellness program (PAW) is intended to promote health and wellness through participation in physical activity and recreational sports. The program offers a wide array of one-credit-hour courses that are available to students across the university. Courses offered through the PAW program are designed to provide opportunities for students to develop the knowledge and expertise needed to successfully engage in self-directed physical activity as well as individual- and team-oriented recreational sports. Course Composition
Courses will combine instruction of physical activity or sport and health and wellness curriculum. Course instruction and materials are delivered in both a face-to-face and online format. Individual courses will carry one hour of graded academic credit that will count toward the required total for graduation and for the determination of full-time status in the semester in which the course is taken.

Please complete the PAW Assumption of Risk Form before participating in a PAW course and/or event. Proof of completion is required.
PAW 1000 Exercise & Conditioning
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. This course provides a basic understanding of the history, safety, and etiquette of Exercise and Conditioning. Students learn basic exercises and develop an understanding of how to build an efficient workout program.
PAW 1002 Circuit Training
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. This course provides a basic understanding of the history, safety, and etiquette of Circuit Training. Students learn basic circuits and develop an understanding of how to create and build an efficient workout program.
PAW 1003 Weight Training
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. This course provides a basic understanding of the history, safety, and etiquette of Weight Training. Students develop knowledge of proper techniques in lifting, as well as a basic understanding of how to create an efficient Weight Training program and lifestyle.
PAW 1004 Jogging
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. This course provides a basic understanding of the history, safety, and etiquette of Jogging. Students learn proper techniques of jogging, as well as methods to improve performance and continued participation over time.
PAW 1005 Yoga
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. This course provides a basic understanding of the history, safety, and etiquette of Yoga. Students learn the many different positions and proper techniques, as well as develop an understanding of how to create an efficient Yoga routine and lifestyle.
PAW 1007 Dance Fitness
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of dance fitness. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic rhythmic exercises and training principles and apply this knowledge to develop an efficient workout program. As students engage in dance fitness, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1008 Indoor Cycling
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of indoor cycling. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic indoor cycling exercises and training principles and apply this knowledge to develop an efficient workout program. As students engage in indoor cycling, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1010 Fitness Walking
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of fitness walking. Students gain hands-on experiences in fitness walking skills and training principles and apply this knowledge to develop an efficient fitness walking program. As students engage in fitness walking, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1100 Basketball
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of basketball. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics and strategies of basketball and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in basketball, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1102 Softball
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of softball. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics and strategies of softball and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in softball, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1103 Fundamentals of Volleyball
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of volleyball. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of volleyball and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in volleyball, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1104 Ultimate Frisbee
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of ultimate frisbee. Students gain hands-on experience with the basic skills, tactics, and strategies of ultimate frisbee and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in ultimate frisbee, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1106 Ice Hockey
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of ice hockey. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of ice hockey and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in ice hockey, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1108 Soccer
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of soccer. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of soccer and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in soccer, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1109 Flag Football
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of flag football. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of flag football and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in flag football, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1116 Spikeball
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of spikeball. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of spikeball and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in spikeball, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1119 Pickleball
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of pickleball. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of pickleball and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in pickleball, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1201 Fundamentals of Tennis
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of tennis. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of tennis and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in tennis, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1202 Fundamentals of Golf
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of golf. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of golf and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in golf, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1203 Badminton
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of badminton. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of badminton and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in badminton, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1208 Archery
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of archery. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of archery and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in archery, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1209 Fundamentals of Ice Skating
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of ice skating. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic ice skating and training principles and apply this knowledge to develop an efficient ice skating program. As students engage in ice skating, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1219 Disc Golf
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of disc golf. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic skills, tactics, and strategies of disc golf and apply this knowledge to gameplay situations. As students engage in disc golf, they gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout a lifetime.
PAW 1220 Trail Running
This course is designed to help students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a lasting interest in attaining and maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime. This course provides a basic understanding of the history, safety, and etiquette of Trail Running. Students learn fundamental skills and techniques of Trail Running, as well as experience varying and challenging courses to support lifelong participation.
PAW 1300 Aqua Aerobics
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of swimming. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic swimming skills and training principles and apply this knowledge to develop an efficient swimming program. As students engage in swimming, they gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop a lasting interest in maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime.
PAW 1301 Fundamentals of Swimming
Students are introduced to the history, safety, and etiquette of swimming. Students gain hands-on experiences in basic swimming skills and training principles and apply this knowledge to develop an efficient swimming program. As students engage in swimming, they gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop a lasting interest in maintaining personal health and wellness throughout their lifetime.
