Ed. ’63), in memory of his wife, Sandra Asik (B.S. Ed. ’65). “Sandy” taught in Lorain City Schools for thirty years at the kindergarten and first-grade levels. She believed that the future belongs to those people who believe in the beauty of their dreams. In memory of Sandra Asik, this scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior Early Childhood major. |

If above criteria does not apply, students can major in Early Childhood Education to Adolescent-to-Young Adult Education specializing in Language Arts. |

Students can reside in Athens, Adams, Brown, Fairfield, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Perry, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton, and Washington with preference given to students in Athens and Perry Counties. They must also hold a grade point average of 3.5 or above. |

The Student Ambassador Program was established to improve outreach to prospective and current students, strengthen communication with the Athens community and Ohio University groups, and build relationships with our alumni. Literacy Ambassadors 2025-26
Literacy Ambassadors are undergraduate teacher candidates who work or volunteer for the Stevens Center for Literacy and STEM Education. Literacy Ambassadors provide one-on-one literacy enrichment to K-12 students, work in summer reading camps, and facilitate family literacy events in the community.
