Pocket Nurse Punch-out Catalog Available
Effective Tuesday, August 3, 2021, Pocket Nurse will be available as a punch-out catalog in BobcatBUY. As a preferred supplier to Ohio University, Pocket Nurse provides a broad portfolio of medical and science supplies for health care simulation education. The punch-out catalog in BobcatBUY will provide a streamlined shopping experience and built-in product discounts as negotiated in the OMNIA Partners Cooperative Purchasing Agreement.
A User Guide is available to support employees in utilizing the new Pocket Nurse catalog.
Key highlights from the Pocket Nurse contract:
- 20% discount (from the price seen at www.pocketnurse.com) for most products.
- Free delivery on all parcel packages, and next day shipping options (see full shipping details below)
- Orders must have a minimum order size of $100 to avoid a $20 service charge.
- On Sale tab of items on clearance. See example below:
Shipping:
Certain heavy items (e.g. furniture, equipment) will not qualify for free delivery.
Free parcel shipping will be fulfilled by FedEx. The contract stipulates “1st floor parcel delivery”, which means the FedEx deliver person may seek delivery signature at the 1st floor instead of a specific destination within the building. When ordering from Pocket Nurse, please have protocols in place to ensure a 1st floor delivery can be accommodated.
Cost Savings:
As we launch the punchout catalog, below is an analysis of the savings we expect to incur based off purchases made over the last 3 years. Please note: this analysis is comparing prices in the catalog to prices paid over the 3 years. Price changes over time may result from a number of factors (e.g., annual price changes; purchasing items on sale), but our goal is to experience overall savings when we transition to a negotiated contract. Below are the results of the analysis (Gloves, non-SKU, and items requiring a quote have been excluded from this analysis):
- 47% of the products cost less or are of equal cost, at an average savings of 21.8% of the actual spend ($3,707 in savings)
- 53% of the products cost more, at an average cost increase of 8.7% of the actual spend ($1,245 in additional costs)
- We have spent $3,157 in shipping costs through Pocket Nurse over the past 3 years. With free shipping on parcels, much of these costs will be saved (shipping of equipment and furniture excluded)
Other Information:
Pocket Nurse has informed us of extreme volatility of exam and surgical glove prices caused by global supply issues. When making glove purchases, please be aware of these global market issues and evaluate options using Pocket Nurse (our preferred supplier for health care simulation education) as well as our general health care supply distributors: Medline, McKesson, and Henry Schein.
In addition to the punchout catalog, users may request a paper catalog to support their ordering needs.
