University Business Vehicle Rental Contracts for Enterprise/National and Hertz – IMPORTANT UPDATE

Ohio University, along with the Inter-University Council Purchasing Group (‘IUC-PG’) of Ohio, has signed new vehicle rental contracts with Hertz and Enterprise/National for business rentals.

Domestic Business Travel: For drivers under age 21, the preferred option is the University Transportation & Parking Services (TPS) fleet of motor vehicles for university business travel.  

Effective November 1, 2026, Enterprise/National rentals to drivers under age 21 will NOT include damage waiver or liability coverage, leaving such renters and their employing/sponsoring departments/units directly responsible for any damage which may arise from the rental of any Enterprise/National vehicle. Hertz rentals remain with same damage waiver and liability coverage that existed in the former contract. 

Rates have been negotiated via the leverage of the entire IUC-PG consortium usage with both Hertz and Enterprise/National, however market conditions have dictated rate increases effective November 1, 2026 with both contracts for both suppliers. New rates vary by vehicle type, but have increased approximately 7% on average.
