Adviser

Dr. Daewoo Lee

Sazan Ismael finished her bachelor’s degree in biology at Salahaddin University in 2004 and earned a master’s in the biological science field at Koya University in 2008. She is currently a Ph.D. student in the Molecular and Cellular Biology program at Ohio University.

Her research is to understand molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease pathology to develop novel therapeutic strategies. She uses the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster to model Parkinson’s disease for her study because of the availability of powerful molecular genetic techniques for the fruit fly.
