The cost for winter break housing is $30/night, $125/week, or $400/month and will be charged directly to the student's account after the conclusion of the winter break period.
Winter Break Housing Information
Winter break housing will be offered in designated open halls. Students who need to remain on campus but do not live in one of these halls will be assigned a temporary space for the duration of the break.
Note: The information on this page is for the 2025-2026 academic year. Updated information for the following year will be available in November 2026.
Dates
Winter Break housing, or interim housing, is available from Saturday, December 13 through Thursday, January 8.
- Tuesday, January 6: To ensure spaces are cleaned prior to students arriving for the spring semester, winter break residents who will be residing on campus for spring 2026 will be transitioned to their permanent spring assignment on Tuesday, January 6.
- Wednesday, December 10: If a student staying over the break period needs to relocate to a temporary housing assignment, the new assignment and check-in instructions will be communicated by Wednesday, December 10 to their OHIO email account.
Winter Break Housing Application
The Winter Break Housing Application will open on October 31 and is required to reside on campus during the winter break period.
To complete the application, students can visit their Housing Self-Service page, click on the ‘Contracts & Applications’ tab, and select Winter Break Housing Application.

Cancel a Winter Break Housing Request
If you make a reservation for interim housing over winter break and you no longer need housing, you must email housing@ohio.edu to cancel.
Please note: The University, including the Office of Housing and Residence Life is closed Thursday, December 25 through Sunday, January 4 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 5.
