Secure health care data as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Cybersecurity Awareness Month continues! Our fourth week is dedicated to information about protecting sensitive data, in particular health care information. Cyber-attacks on health care entities can cause downtime and data breaches – and they’re becoming more common each year.
At Ohio University, there are controls in place to protect health care data that our HIPAA and HIPAA-like units store, process, and transmit. As an OHIO student or employee, it is important to be aware of when you're interacting with this sort of data and the appropriate practices to follow to ensure it remains secure.
The Information Security Office has many resources available to help individuals familiarize themselves with sensitive data. It is up to each of us to do our part and #BeCyberSmart.
