Back on the Bricks Weekend Details
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Athens for the first-ever Back on the Bricks alumni weekend. Below are detailed instructions for each activity and event. Please read carefully and keep for reference throughout the weekend.
If you did not register for a particular activity, you can skip that section.
Overnight Accommodations and Parking Details
If you are staying overnight or bringing a vehicle to campus, please review the information below to ensure a smooth arrival, check-in, and parking experience.
These details apply only to guests who registered for housing and/or requested parking accommodations. In the event that you need to extend your stay (between July 17-21) or need to register for a parking pass for your vehicle while on campus, please see the in-hall staff for assistance.
Housing Check-In and Check-Out
Location: Sowle Hall (South Green)
When you arrive, follow the event signage to Sowle Hall. Staff will provide you with your room key, swipe access card, parking hangtag (if needed), and Sunday brunch tickets (for those registered). Each person will have linens provided in their assigned room. Linens include a flat sheet, fitted sheet, pillow, pillow case, blanket, a small and large towel.
If you need to check in or out outside of these posted hours, please call our on-call number at 740.591.4636.
Check-in will be available from:
- Thursday, July 17 between 3 and 5 p.m.
- Friday, July 18 between 3 and 5 p.m.
- Saturday, July 19 between 3 and 5 p.m.
Check-out is available from:
- Sunday, July 20 from 12 to 2 p.m.
- Monday, July 21 from 12 to 2 p.m.
If you need to leave outside these hours, express check-out is available. For express check-out, you may leave your room key and conference card in your room before departing. Before you leave, please:
- Remove all trash from your room and take it to the dumpsters located behind Carr Hall.
- Double-check that you’ve packed all personal belongings.
If you need additional time past your scheduled departure, please contact the on-call phone (740.591.4636) to request a late check-out. Please note that any unreturned keys and swipes will result in a charge. The cost for an unreturned key is $100 and an unreturned access card is $10.
Parking
Parking is free and no permit is required between Friday, July 18 at 4:30 p.m. and Monday, July 21 at 7:30 a.m. If you are staying in on-campus housing and registered for a pass, a parking hangtag will be provided for you at check in.
If you registered for a parking pass, but are not staying overnight, you will need to pick up the hangtag. These can be picked up in Sowle Hall during the following times:
- Thursday, July 17 through Saturday, July 19 from 3 to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, July 20 or Monday, July 21 from 12 to 2 p.m.
After picking up your pass, please place it in your vehicle (following all instructions on the tag) and park your vehicle in one of the lots listed. Parking is available in the following lots:
- Lot 81 (Adams Hall Garage)
- Lots 127 and 128 (near the Convocation Center)
- Lot 104 (near Jefferson and Washington Halls)
Events and Activities Details
Below, you’ll find everything you need to know for the events and activities you selected. Each section includes important times, locations, and instructions. Please read only the events that apply to your registration, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Jackie O's Reception
Date: Friday, July 18
Time: 4 to 6 p.m.
Location: Jackie O’s Brewpub, 24 W Union Street
Please enter through the main entrance of the brewpub. A check-in table will be located near the entrance where you will receive two drink tickets and your alumni swag. Soft drinks, water, and appetizers will be available throughout the evening. Guests may arrive and leave at any time during the event.
If you didn’t register in advance, walk-up guests are still welcome, but will need to pay the $30/per person registration fee at the door. Staff will be on hand to help with any questions or needs during the event.
Copperhead's Game
Date: Friday, July 18
Time: First pitch at 7:05 p.m.
Location: Bob Wren Stadium, 140 S Shafer Street
Tickets will be emailed to the address you used during registration. These will come from noreply@ticketreturn.com, so please check your spam folder if you don’t see them. The email will include a PDF file of your ticket. You must present this PDF at the stadium gate, either by printing it or displaying it on your phone.
Tickets will be emailed around Friday, July 11. If you have not received your tickets by Monday, July 14 or have issues accessing your tickets, please contact Chloe Kantowicz at chloekantowicz@ohio.edu, who will be managing ticket distribution.
Golf Outing
Date: Saturday, July 19
Time: 8 a.m. tee time
Location: OHIO Golf and Tennis Center, 106 S Green Drive
Please plan to arrive at the Golf and Tennis Center at least 15 minutes prior to the 8 a.m. tee time. Bring your own clubs and any personal golf gear you need. Golf carts will be available, and staff at the center can assist with details and questions about the course.
Please note that this is a 9-hole course—so an 18-hole tee time means you will play the course twice. There are no restroom or water stations out on the course, but both are available inside the Club House. Outside food and drink are permitted, and concession vending machines are located inside. Alcohol is not permitted.
In the event of inclement weather, including flooding or lightning, the course may be delayed or closed. The Golf and Tennis Center is equipped with a Thorguard weather system: one long horn will signal all patrons to take shelter, and three short horns will indicate that it is safe to return to the course. Patrons should take shelter in the Club House during any such delay.
Campus Tour
Date: Saturday, July 19
Time: 3 to 5 p.m.
Arrive By: 2:45 p.m.
Meeting Location: First floor of the Living Learning Center (LLC)
Check in near the inflatable Rufus mascot and get ready to explore campus. Groups will be assigned walking tour guides and leave promptly at 3 p.m. The tour will take you through West Green, East Green, and South Green, showcasing how campus has evolved over the years.
Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. If you need assistance or have mobility concerns, staff will be available to help at the LLC before the tour begins.
This is a free event, so if you did not register, you may still participate.
Sunday Brunch
Date: Sunday, July 20
Time: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Nelson Commons
If you are staying in on-campus housing, a meal voucher will be provided for you and any guests you registered at check in.
If you opted into brunch but are not staying overnight, you will need to pick up the meal voucher. These can be picked up in Sowle Hall during the following times:
- Thursday, July 17 through Saturday, July 19 from 3 to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, July 20 from 12 to 2 p.m.
If you did not pre-register for brunch and wish to go, you may pay the at the door price using a credit or debit card.
Refund Reminder: You are able to remove any free activities and add-ons through your event confirmation email, but you will need to contact Advancement Events at eventsadv@ohio.edu to cancel the paid activities and add-ons. Please note that the last day to request a refund for any event or housing accommodation is Monday, July 14. After this date, we are unable to process refunds.
Please note that due to staffing and weather forecast, ziplining has been cancelled and fully refunded.
