Take a Stand | Make a Point | Be a Leader

Imagine interning in Washington, D.C., and attending hearings on health care reform or immigration reform or interning on a political campaign. Imagine arguing a case in a real courtroom before a local judge and competing with the mock trial team. Imagine studying about the French revolution and reform—in Paris. Or talking about foreign affairs with other students as a delegate to a national conference. Opportunities to participate and impact the issues you care about in your community and across the world—it's what we do in Political Science.

B.A. Programs

With roughly 450 students, Political Science is one of the most popular majors in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Political Science major is excellent preparation for careers in law, public service, foreign service, business and education.

Honors Tutorial College Political Science Major

This program is designed around the belief that Honors Tutorial College students, as talented and mature people, should enjoy freedom to explore the issues and possibilities of the field. Therefore, with the exception of asking students to accomplish the equivalent of two years of study in a foreign language, take eight tutorials in the field, write the Honors Thesis, and complete the general Honors Tutorial College requirements, the Honors Tutorial College encourages students to work with the program director to develop a personalized program of study in political science.
