Annual Research Compliance Training Attestation

All Heritage College students are required to complete the Annual Research Compliance Attestation each academic year, regardless of whether you plan to participate in research or scholarly activity. This requirement ensures awareness of essential research compliance expectations and supports a culture of integrity and ethical responsibility across the college. 

Training Completion

  • I have completed all required research compliance training courses prior to engaging in any research or scholarly activity, including:
    • Human Subjects Protection Training (CITI Program) – required for IRB compliance.
    • Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) – CITI Program.
    • Conflict of Interest (COI) Training – CITI Program.
    • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) – CITI Program.
    • HIPAA Training – Vector Solutions (Full Course).

Training Frequency

  • I understand that:
    • Human Subjects and Animal Subjects training must be updated every three years.
    • RCR training may need to be updated every two years.
    • COI training must be updated every four years.
    • GCP training may need to be updated every two to four years.
    • HIPAA training is required annually.

Documentation

  • I have uploaded all completion certificates to my Student Documents in Salesforce as required.

ORCiD

  • I have registered to get a unique ORCID identifier, affiliated with Ohio University, and will use this ORCID iD, when prompted, in systems and platforms from grant applications to manuscript submissions and beyond.
  • I have submitted my ORCiD to the Office of Research and Grants.

Mentor for Research or Scholarly Activities

  • I will ensure that I engage an experienced researcher serve as my mentor for any research or scholarly activity.

Project Registration

  • I will register all research and scholarly activities with the Office of Research and Grants through Salesforce, in accordance with Heritage College Policy 2.22 prior to engagement in the project.

Compliance Approvals

  • I will obtain all necessary research compliance approvals from both Ohio University and any external research sites, including IRB or IACUC deferral requests submitted through Cayuse, if applicable.

Dissemination Activities

  • I will submit research dissemination and accomplishments through my Salesforce Student Portal by creating a Research Dissemination Record and link to the appropriate research or scholarly activity.

Affiliation

  • I will list the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine as my primary affiliation for any dissemination activities completed while enrolled as students at the Heritage College.

Ongoing Responsibility

  • I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to maintain current training and compliance documentation and to adhere to all applicable research policies and ethical standards throughout my participation in research.
