Team-Based Learning 101

Brief Description: This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of Team-Based Learning.
Target Audience: Anyone interested in learning more about Team-Based Learning.
Prerequisite(s): None
Key Objectives:
At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

 

  • Describe their workshop experience, including team formation, the Readiness Assurance Process, and application activities ('4 S' Framework).
  • Identify how to use the four essential elements of Team-Based Learning.
  • Describe how to take next steps and learn more about Team-Based Learning.

The entire workshop will be conducted in TBL format including team formation, the readiness assurance process, and application activities.

Writing Effective Learning Objectives

Brief Description: This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of writing learning objectives using Bloom's Taxonomy.
Target Audience: Anyone interested in learning more about writing Learning Objectives.
Prerequisite(s): None
Key Objective(s):
At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

 

  • Describe the importance of 'Objectives' in an instruction.
  • Use topic and procedural analysis to identify facts, concepts, principles, rules, and steps in a learning task.
  • Write objectives using Blooms Taxonomy.

Introduction to Instructional Strategies

Brief Description: This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of instructional strategies to teach a fact, a concept, a rule, a procedure, interpersonal skill, or an attitude.
Target Audience: Anyone interested in learning more about active learning instructional strategies.
Prerequisite(s): Complete OFLDS workshop on "Writing Effective Learning Objectives".
Key Objectives(s):
At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

 

  • Describe the goal of an instructional strategy.
  • Explain 'initial presentation' and 'generative strategy'.
  • Use instructional strategies for teaching a fact, a concept, a rule, a procedure, interpersonal skill, or an attitude.

Assessments/Evaluations

Brief Description: This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of different types of assessments / evaluations.
Target Audience: Anyone interested in learning more about assessments/evaluations.
Prerequisite(s): Complete OFLDS workshop on "Writing Effective Learning Objectives".
Key Objectives(s)
At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:

 

  • Describe the purpose of Evaluation/Assessment.
  • Distinguish 'Formative', 'Summative' and 'Confirmative' assessment.
  • Explain how to judge achievement using 'Relative' and 'Absolute' standards.
  • Write good test questions in Bloom's higher levels (analysis, synthesis and evaluation).
