Ohio University updates Parental Leave Program to better benefit employees
Ohio University has updated its Parental Leave Program to better assist OHIO’s benefits-eligible faculty, administrators and bargaining unit staff.
The Parental Leave Program allows eligible employees to take advantage of a total of 12 weeks (6 weeks paid and 6 weeks unpaid) of parental leave for birth or adoption.
Previously, eligible employees were required to work at the University for at least one year before becoming eligible for parental leave. In the updated program, benefits-eligible faculty, administrators and bargaining unit staff are eligible for parental leave upon being officially hired.
Additionally, the revised program extends the timeframe in which employees can take their parental leave. Under the updated program, eligible employees are now able to take their parental leave at any time within 12 months from the date of birth or adoption. Previously, parental leave was required to be utilized within 12 weeks from the date of birth or adoption.
