OHIO employess critical to mission whether working remotely or on campus

March 18, 2020

This message was emailed from OHIO Employee News.

We write today to remind you that until further notice, only staff whose work is deemed critical to current operations are to report to work on campus. Staff not required to report to campus are expected to support the continuity of operations of the University by working remotely whenever possible or engaging in other meaningful work.

We have taken this action, and others, to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus by minimizing contact among employees who must be on campus. The University is not closed.

While some employees are able to work remotely to fulfill their job requirements, others are required to be on campus because their work cannot be performed remotely. These employees contribute to the security, safety or vital operations of the University.

Ohio University is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of all employees whose presence on campus is deemed necessary and, as such, we have implemented recommended safety measures, including effectuating plans to reduce the density of employees on campus and facilitate workplace social distancing. There is a symbiotic relationship between both groups that will help keep everyone as healthy as possible while enabling the University’s mission to continue.

Social distancing is critical to all of our employees’ health and the health and safety of their families, and it is imperative for those individuals who are able to work remotely do so.

Ohio University relies upon each and every one of its employees to maintain University operations regardless of the individual role being served. Whether you are physically working on one of our campuses or working from home, your job is vital to our success, and we value you.

Please stay safe and thank you for everything you do for Ohio University and for our University community.
