Clinical Training and Assessment Center

Clinical Training and Assessment Center staff manage a training and assessment area that affords students a place to enhance their clinical skills in a safe and supportive environment. Simulated experiences, including a standardized patient program, are a core function of pre-clinical training, and each campus includes examination rooms outfitted with medical equipment to support this training.

Learning Resources Center

The Cleveland LRC is located on the first floor of South Pointe’s building A, room SPS-102. The collection of resources includes books that were strategically picked to cover all of the Heritage College’s academic curricula. There is a PC available to students that provides access to various research aids such as Clinical Key, PUBMED and OhioLINK. Assistance with resources and IT support is available, during the academic year, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. There are two designated areas, one which provides a quiet study area and another which can be used for group study sessions. The various tech-friendly furniture will ensure the students are always connected and fully charged. There is also self-serve B/W and color photocopying, printing and network scanning.

Learning lab technology

Learning Laboratory and Imaging Study Laboratory

As the main lecture space for first-year students, the learning lab is equipped with the latest technology for presentations, interaction with others on site and interaction with students and faculty in Athens and Dublin via educational group ware and videoconferencing. The venue also functions as the microanatomy laboratory, with a camera-mounted instructor’s microscope and video screens providing a state-of-the-art virtual microscopy experience.

Simulated physicians’ clinic environments allow you to practice clinical skills with standardized patients in a realistic yet controlled environment. This setting will allow you to gain clinical diagnostic skills, begin to master complex technical procedures and develop communication skills early in your education process.

Operating Theater and Emergency Room

Students will train in a replicated operating theater and emergency room, which features a wide variety of state-of-the-art medical equipment and technology, including mannequins that can be programmed to simulate various health conditions, allowing you to practice medical techniques.

The skills lab provides the venue to learn a variety of clinical skills such as suturing, advanced cardiac life support, basic life support, phlebotomy and more.

OMM and Anatomy Laboratories

Expect one-on-one, hands-on instruction in osteopathic manipulative medicine. With full-featured tables and large-screen displays throughout the labs, you’ll have a full view of instructor demonstrations. Video technology allows faculty members to connect the gross anatomy and OMM labs, integrating musculoskeletal anatomy instruction and problem-solving in clinical settings. High-magnification cameras and large-screen displays in the anatomy laboratory allow faculty to zoom in on structures and broadcast images throughout the room.
