Event Details
The Convocation/White Coat Ceremony is held annually to welcome the newest Heritage College class into Ohio University, as well as the osteopathic profession.  During the ceremony, members of the entering class of 2022 will be presented with a white coat by a D.O. or M.D. clinician. The white coats proudly display patches for the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Ohio Osteopathic Association and are a gift from the Ohio Osteopathic Foundation.

In addition to the presentation of the white coat, the college awards its highest honor, the Phillips Medal of Public Service, to individuals who embody excellence in osteopathic family practice, hospital administration and public policy leadership.  This year's award will be given posthumously to Anthony Chila, D.O., professor emeritus of family medicine.

We anticipate the event will conclude around 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are required for entrance and can be obtained from members of the entering class of 2022.

Seating and Accommodations
There are designated seating sections for guests who have limited mobility and for guests who are wheelchair bound. We ask that only one additional guest sit in this section to maximize our accessibility seating options. Ushers will be available to direct guests to these seats.

An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will provide interpreting services at the ceremony. There is a designated ASL seating section for the best view of the interpreter. The interpreter will also be shown on the livestream link for guests watching the ceremony remotely.

If you cannot make it to the event in person, a live-stream of the ceremony will begin at 3:50 p.m.

Free parking is available at the Convocation Center at 95 Richland Avenue.  Shuttle service will be available to transport guests to Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium beginning at 2:00 p.m. and will continue to run for one hour after the ceremony concludes.  Special parking will be available for mobility-impaired guests

At this time, masks are not required for campus gatherings. However, should circumstances change, masks will be provided for all guests.
