OHIO Board of Trustees tours Heritage Translational Research Center

October 23, 2026

Members of the Ohio University Board of Trustees donned hard hats Oct. 15 to tour the Heritage Translational Research Center (HTRC); faculty and staff will begin occupying the building by the end of November.

Board members toured the 80,000-square-foot building, which will be home to faculty and student researchers along with staff from Community Health Programs. State-of-the-art labs will provide space for human subject research and basic science research.

After the tour, board members were shuttled to a performance by the Marching 110 and then returned to Heritage Hall for dinner, where Board members engaged with faculty, staff and students with a connection to the new center.

At dinner, Vice President of Health Affairs Ken Johnson, D.O., made a toast, thanking the board for its vision and support of the HRTC. He said the center will create “more opportunities to ask important questions, discover news solutions and translate those discoveries into better care.”

Johnson then presented Ohio University President Lori Stewart Gonzalez with the Trillium Award, which is presented to individuals who have shown significant support for the college and who have gone out of their way to help the college thrive and grow.
