Updated September 24, 2026

A suspected violation by a student of Professional Standards must be reported by members of the HCOM community through the Student Professionalism Violation Form.

The violation report will be forwarded to the Chair of the Professionalism Committee to determine the category of the offense to proceed with the next steps
  • Academic Misconduct Offense

These offenses will be sent to the appropriate Curriculum Director, who will review and document the situation, and then determine if there is a need to meet with student(s), faculty, or staff, for further information. Following this step, the Curriculum Director will work with the Associate Dean, in OME, to determine next steps.

    Possible Outcomes:

#1. The outcome will be sent to the Associate Dean in OME for documentation and to close the loop. A concurrent referral to the Professionalism Committee may also be made.

#2. If a CSP referral is made, the Committee will review the information provided by the Curriculum Director/Associate Dean in OME and determine whether to meet with the student, and/or refer the matter to the Office of Community Standards and Student Responsibility (CSSR).

  • Professional Offense

These offenses will be triaged by the Chair of the Professionalism Committee to determine the appropriate next steps. For moderate offenses, the student(s) involved will meet with the Professionalism Committee and an action plan will be developed for remediation of the behavior. If the Professionalism Committee finds the offense to be severe, the student will be sent to the Committee on Student Progress.
