Family Weekend: Transportation & Parking Information- September 13-15, 2024

We would like to welcome all Bobcat family members planning to visit the Ohio University campus for Family Weekend. Please see below for information about parking and transportation accommodations available during your stay.

Available Parking

Beginning Friday, September 13, 2024 at 12PM all dark green and purple parking lots will be open and available for guest parking*. These parking areas will remain open until the end of the day Sunday, September 15, 2024. Please ensure vehicles are not parked within the grass, or other non-parking or restricted parking areas.

*Several parking areas will close or convert to donor event parking locations during these times. Please review all lot signage prior to parking. A summary of campus parking lot closures can be found below. 

  • Ridges Parking Lot 208 will close at 5:30pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 and remain closed through the end of the day Sunday, September 15, 2024.
  • Peden Lot 132, Walter Fieldhouse Lot 133, and Walter Hall Lot 134 will close at 11pm on Friday, September 13, 3024, and remain closed for donor parking through the end of the day Saturday, September 14, 2024. 

Road Closures

A portion of South Green Drive between Richland Avenue and Oxbow Trail will be closed on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in support of the home OHIO Football game. The closure will take effect on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 6AM and conclude 2 hours post-game on the same day to ensure the safety of participants at this event. Detour traffic should utilize Oxbow Trail and Bobcat Lane to navigate around the closure area.

Transportation Options

  • CATS Late Night is a evening and weekend service available Friday from 5:30PM – 11:00PM as well as Saturday and Sunday from 6:00PM – 11:00PM. We encourage students/faculty/staff to schedule reservations in advance using the TripShot app or by calling or texting 740-593-4040 to avoid wait times during peak periods.
  • Athens Public Transit is available to many campus and Athens area locations with service hours Monday through Friday 7:00AM – 8:00PM Ride fares start at $1, and students ride for free with their OHIO ID. For a full listing of routes visit the APT website or call 740-592-2727.
  • Daily Campus Shuttles are available Friday from 7:30AM – 5:30PM and service main campus buildings including the Ridges and various parking locations. Download the TripShot app for live bus tracking.
