Subject: Important New Feature: Current Living Address
Dear Bobcat,
You are receiving this message because you are enrolled in classes at Ohio University this fall semester, and we’d like to make you aware of a new and important piece of contact information you can share in your MyOHIO Student Center: your current living address. Just like you have a mailing address or other addresses, you can now report a “current living address” that tracks where you are living while you are taking classes at OHIO University. Starting this fall, all students not living in university housing will be required to update or confirm a current living address, and by entering one now, you can save time later this fall. Be sure to provide the address where you will be living while taking your fall semester classes. You can read more about why this is important and how the information is used below or review a video on how to update your address using a desktop or mobile/tablet device.
Current Living Address
It is important to know where students are living for emergency purposes. Additionally, when offering educational opportunities outside of Ohio, whether by distance education or courses such as internships, clinicals, practica, and student teaching, the university must comply with applicable state and federal regulations. Current regulations require an institution to be authorized by a state where the institution is not physically located when delivering education to students who reside within that state.
Per federal regulations, prospective students and students enrolled in professional licensure or certification programs must receive direct notification within 14-days should their location change to a state where the curriculum delivery by the university does not meet the State’s educational requirements for licensure or certification, or if the university is unable to make a determination regarding whether the program’s curriculum meets the state’ educational requirements for licensure or certification.
For these reasons, it is important for the University to have your accurate Current Living Address updated. All students who are not living in university housing are required to confirm or update the address where they are living each semester prior to participating in class.
While this is an optional activity at this point, updating your Current Living Address will be required beginning August 14, 2023. Thank you for your prompt attention and timely action regarding this matter.
Please remember to submit any future changes using the same update process. Students who do not want their directory/public information released to third parties or students who do not want to be identified in Ohio University search directories must update their privacy settings in MyOHIO Student Center. In the Personal Information section select Privacy Settings in the drop-down box and then click the right arrows. Please read the five statements and then click Edit FERPA/Directory Restrictions, click Restrict All Fields, and then click Save to elect confidentiality. This restriction will remain in place until you remove it. Please note that your current living address is not defined as directory information and will not be released without your consent.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Pugh
