Celebrating Research Excellence in CHSP and HCOM
The purpose of this newsletter is to highlight outstanding faculty, staff, and student research achievements and foster a culture of scholarly collaboration.
To ensure consistency and fairness, research accomplishments will be featured based on the following criteria:
Eligibility Criteria
Students may be included in the newsletter if they have achieved one or more of the following:
Publication
- First or corresponding author on a peer-reviewed journal article published in a reputable, indexed journal.
- Exclusions: Articles published in non-indexed journals, journals without an impact factor, or predatory publishers will not be considered.
Conference Presentation
- First author/presenter of a poster or podium presentation at a national or international conference, including virtual conferences.
Research Funding
- PI or Co-PI on an externally funded research grant OR
- Recipient of a competitive research fellowship or scholarship.
Research Awards
- Recipient of nationally or internationally competitive research award (e.g., AMA Research Challenge, AACOM National Student Researcher of the Year, APHA, etc.).
Additional Notes
Achievements must have occurred within the current academic year.
- Publications will be pulled by the College of Health Sciences and Professions and Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine staff monthly using recognized indexing databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus).
- Publications will be screened for journal quality using recognized indexing services (e.g., PubMed, Scopus) and publisher reputation.
- HCOM Students: Only conference presentation, research funding, and research awards entered as dissemination activities in Salesforce will be considered.
- CHSP Students: Only conference presentation, research funding, and research awards entered in Smartsheet will be considered.
- Students should provide documentation or verification (e.g., citation, conference program, award letter).
- Collaborative projects are encouraged; however, recognition will focus on the student’s specific role.
Eligibility Criteria
Faculty and staff may be included in the newsletter if they have achieved one or more of the following:
Publication
- First, senior, or corresponding author on a peer-reviewed journal article published in a reputable, indexed journal, with priority given to Q1 journals in the faculty member’s field (based on Scimago, JCR, or an equivalent field-specific ranking).
- Exclusions: Articles published in non-indexed journals, journals without recognized impact metrics, or predatory publishers will not be considered.
Research Funding
- PI or Multiple-PI on an externally funded research grant.
Research Awards and Professional Recognition
- Recipient of a nationally or internationally competitive research award.
- Appointment to a national editorial board, major professional society leadership position, or selection as an invited keynote or plenary speaker at a national or international meeting.
Additional Notes
- Achievements must have occurred within the current academic year.
- Publications will be pulled by the College of Health Sciences and Professions and Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine staff monthly using recognized indexing databases (e.g., PubMed, Scopus).
- Journal quality will be screened using recognized indexing systems and ranking services, and predatory publishers will be excluded.
