eMedley sessions will list the appropriate attire for each session. Please see the Curriculum Committee’s PHWC Student Professional Appearance, Dress Code Policy for specific guidelines for appropriate attire for the clinical environment, Community Experiences (CCEs), Patient Encounters, OMM, Medical Morphology. The PHWC Student Professional Appearance, Dress Code Policy also addresses consequences for failing to comply with the dress code and information for accessibility and/or Cultural and Religious Accommodations.
The OU-HCOM Athens Dress Code, expands upon appropriate attire for Medical Students Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5 pm for classroom-based environments (iLab and extracurricular activities).
Required: Heritage College student ID badge must be always worn and visible
Please remember that patients come in and out of the building throughout the day. It’s important that medical students always present themselves in a professional and respectful manner to reflect the standards of our program and provide a welcoming environment for those we serve.
Dress Code: Students may dress casually for non-clinical and iLab activities but must maintain a presentable appearance appropriate for an academic environment. Clothing should be clean, well-fitting, and free from excessive wear. All students must appear well-groomed and neat.
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM follows the dress code below and Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM follows business casual (white coats are not necessary and clean athletic shoes are permitted)
*Special Note for Exam Days: On exam days, students may wear comfortable attire (ex. Athleisure, sweatpants, etc.) of their choice, as long as it remains respectful to others in the academic environment. Dress code expectations are relaxed these days to support comfort and focus.
