Our Mission
The Surgery and Sports Medicine Club at the Heritage College is committed to giving first- and second-year medical students insight into the various surgical and sports medicine specialties. Our mission is to educate our members by bringing in specialists from across the state. SSM shall abide by all Ohio University and Heritage College policies and procedures.

Dues: $50 annually
Services Provided
In the past, SSM has volunteered with medical teams for the Towpath Marathon. Members of SSM also have the opportunity to receive training to assist in spine boarding at Ohio University hockey games and observe or aid OHIO's football and basketball team doctors on the sidelines. We hold organize suture and scrub clinics with faculty so students are comfortable on their clinical rotations. Afterwards, we hold organize a suture event with the Ohio University Pre-Med club to teach and mentor students. Lastly, biannually we organize Trash Pick-up Days in the Athens community. For professional development, we will help organize funding to attend national events like the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics' fall meeting.
