Our Mission

Our mission at the OUHCOM Anesthesiology Club is to foster an interest and understanding of the specialty of anesthesiology among medical students. We strive to provide opportunities for our members to learn about the principles and practices of safe and effective perioperative care, including pre-operative evaluation, intraoperative management, and post-operative pain control. Through guest lectures, workshops, and simulation exercises, we aim to enhance our members' knowledge and skills in the field of anesthesiology. Our club also serves as a resource for medical students considering a career in anesthesiology by providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and guidance to strengthen residency applications. Overall, we seek to promote the importance of anesthesiology in patient care and the integral role of anesthesiologists in the healthcare team.

Services Provided

The Anesthesiology Club will collaborate with other HCOM organizations to coordinate apparel sales, fundraiser events, and other activities. We will also provide lectures, simulation workshops, and feature special guest speakers in order to provide club members with vast information and resources related to the anesthesia profession.

Tentative Schedule

Anesthesiology Club will be holding multiple events throughout the fall and spring semesters during the 2023-2024 school year. We plan on holding guest speakers featuring anesthesiologists in clinical practice, as well as program directors for anesthesiology residency programs. We also plan on having an anesthesiology resident panel as well to provide insight into an anesthesiology residency. The anesthesiology club will be hosting an apparel sale also in the Fall semester. We will be having multiple workshops throughout the school year for students to get hands-on practice with various procedures that may be encountered in a day in anesthesia.
