View Ohio University's Faculty Handbook Special Appointments
Faculty can make recommendations for scholars outside of OHIO or in other academic departments to be granted adjunct/courtesy/professional/special appointments in their departments. Requests are reviewed through the college’s chain of command. Once a courtesy appointment is accepted, the sponsoring faculty member or department can apply for a long-term guest account for the scholar to obtain an OHIO ID, access to systems, the library, parking permit, etc.
Please note that guest account holders receive PID numbers. If the invited scholar was previously affiliated with OHIO as a student, faculty, or staff member, the guest account should utilize the same PID number.
Procedures
Requests for special appointments are submitted and reviewed as follows.
Chair or appropriate department committee > Associate Dean of Faculty (ADF) > Executive Dean. Additional review by the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation may also be appropriate.
If approved by the Executive Dean, the ADF or designee will create a letter of appointment on behalf of the Dean.
