Counseling and Psychological Services - Regional Higher Education and OHIO Online Services and Resources

As an Ohio University student enrolled through one of OHIO's five regional campuses, OHIO Online, or the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (HCOM) at the Dublin or Cleveland Campus or as a 3rd or 4th year Athens student, you can access a variety of resources designed to support your mental health and well-being.

Mental Health Counseling Services Through BetterMynd

BetterMynd is an online therapy platform designed specifically for college students that offers eligible OHIO students 24/7 access to free and confidential mental health care from a network of licensed mental health counselors. Students can access:

  • 24/7 Crisis Support Line

    Call 1.844.287.6963 anytime — day or night, weekends, holidays, and in between to connect with a licensed counselor for immediate support, emotional guidance, or crisis care. 

  • Scheduled Counseling (6 visits per year)

    Select the day, time, and mental health provider of your choice. Sessions are 50-minute live video sessions with licensed counselors from diverse backgrounds. These sessions are confidential and can take place anywhere students feel comfortable.  

  • Well-Being Workshops

    One-hour synchronous, live psychoeducational group sessions led by licensed counselors who equip students with practical mental health tools and strategies. Students have unlimited access to the more than 20 workshops offered each month, which complement individual counseling or can be attended as a standalone resource.

  • Join BetterMynd

    Whether you're feeling anxious or overwhelmed, you can talk to a licensed provider to get the care you need via phone or secure video visits.

Who is eligible to use BetterMynd?

To be eligible to use BetterMynd, you must be:

  • Erolled in the current semester for at least one program through:
    • One of OHIO's five regional campuses
    • OHIO Online
    • HCOM Dublin campus
    • HCOM Cleveland campus
    • HCOM Athens campus 3rd and 4th year students only
  • 18 years+
  • High school graduate
How can I access BetterMynd?

Visit app.bettermynd.com/register and register with your OHIO email address. You can start visits from any web enabled device — smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop—anywhere in the United States.

Be sure to monitor your credits, which allow you to book individual teletherapy sessions and well-being workshops. Your available credits can be found on the left-hand side of your dashboard under the "Credits" tab.

How many sessions can I use?

You will receive 6 credits, and each credit will allow you to schedule a 50-minute individual counseling session. No shows will count toward this credit limit, so it's important to attend all of your scheduled appointments.

If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, be sure to inform your counselor at least 24 hours in advance or else you will lose that credit.

How much does a visit cost?

BetterMynd Services are available at no cost to eligible Ohio University students.
