Students who are not covered under the guaranteed tuition plan (The OHIO Guarantee) are automatically charged the wellbeing fee if they are registered for one or more credit hour through any college on OHIO’s Athens Campus. View resources on regional campuses and OHIO Online

By enrolling in the wellbeing fee, students in the guaranteed tuition model are eligible for free treatment with Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services. (Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance.)

Funds generated from the wellbeing fee are supporting these enhancements to Counseling and Psychological Services:

  • 24/7 Crisis Intervention Service: A student can call 740.593.1616 and talk to a counselor any time of the day or night!

  • Additional staff support for appointments, groups, outreach, and training at Counseling and Psychological Services

  • Access to online mental health resources

YES! Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance. Guaranteed students and students enrolled in the WellBeing fee receive treatment with Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services.

As a student not in the guaranteed tuition model with the student health insurance, is it worth it to purchase the wellbeing fee?

YES! Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance. Students not in the guaranteed tuition model receive treatment at Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services with the WellBeing fee paid.

Are wellbeing benefits available all year long?

Wellbeing benefits are valid during the active semester for which a student is enrolled and charged the wellbeing fee. This includes students with and without the guaranteed tuition while the semester is active.

If a student not in the guaranteed tuition model purchases the wellbeing fee, are they still required to carry medical insurance?

YES. Wellbeing is not health insurance. All students at Ohio University are required to continuously carry active health insurance.

Can a student not in the guaranteed tuition model purchase wellbeing without purchasing Ohio University’s student health insurance?

YES! Students not in the guaranteed tuition model can purchase wellbeing each semester if they are registered for 1 or more Athens campus credit hours. Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance; however, purchasing wellbeing will allow students not in the guaranteed tuition model access to their services.

How do I enroll in wellbeing?

Students not in the guaranteed tuition model are automatically billed for the wellbeing fee upon registration of one or more Athens campus credit hours.

Can I purchase the wellbeing fee if I have waived it previously during the same semester?

Students not in the guaranteed tuition model can purchase wellbeing after waiving it if they are actively seeking treatment from Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services. To re-enroll, students can email wellbeing@ohio.edu from their student email account. 

How do I waive wellbeing?

Students in the guaranteed tuition model are not eligible to waive the wellbeing fee for it is not a separate charge.

Students not in the guaranteed tuition model are eligible to waive the Ohio University wellbeing fee. The fee must be waived online prior to the posted deadline:

  • Sign in to My Ohio
  • On the Accounts tab, click My OHIO Student Center
  • In the Finances section, click Waive WellBeing Plan
  • Follow the instructions to complete the waiver
  • Wait for the confirmation receipt to appear; print it for your records
