Student Equity Management Group

Not every college student gets the chance to practice trading in the stock market with university finances. Ohio University’s Student Equity Management Group (OUSEMG) manages an equity portfolio of approximately $10 million for the Ohio University Foundation under a concentrated portfolio strategy. OUSEMG members build required skills needed to be successful in highly competitive internships and careers.

As a student-run organization, the members make all investment decisions and have consistently outperformed its benchmark, the S&P 500. The group was founded in 2001 and allocated its first funds of $100,000 in March 2002. All capital gains and dividend income the group generates is for the Ohio University Foundation, which supports its scholarships, research grants, and other initiatives.
