Halloween 2017 Parking Regulations

Halloween regulations are effective beginning Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 8 pm through Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 6 am.

 

Due to the large number of individuals that will be coming to Athens for the Halloween celebration, Parking Services will only allow Ohio University faculty/staff and currently enrolled students to park in University lots.  Any vehicle not clearly displaying an Ohio University parking permit will be issued a citation.

 

Parking within the Baker University Center Garage will be closed to the public after 3 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 until 7 am on Sunday, October 29, 2017.  The garage will only function for those with reserved permits.  There will not be any pay-by-the hour parking available in the garage; however, pay-by-hour parking will be available at any meter for those wishing to park utilizing short-term or hourly parking.  Vehicles parked illegally due to expired time or failure to pay time will be issued a citation.

 

Failure to display a permit will result in receiving a $150 violation for parking on campus during a designated closure period.  Any citations that are not paid within 90 days of issue date will be turned over to collections.  Vehicles that are found to be illegally parked within non-traditional parking areas, blocking or impeding traffic flow or drive areas, parked in the grass or along curbs, within firelanes, or illegally parked within a disability space are subject to a fine as well as being towed. 

 

Campus Event Arrangements

A list is provided below of known campus events that may conflict with times in which the lots are closed for Halloween weekend.  Campus is “closed” beginning at 8 pm on Saturday, October 28, 2017 through Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 6 am.  Parking arrangements for these known events are outlined below.  Please be sure to park as indicated for the specific event you’re attending to avoid a citation.  If you do  not see an event you’re attending listed below, please contact us at parking@ohio.edu to inquire about arrangements.

Womens Vollyball Game:  A volleyball game will be held at the Convocation Center on Saturday, October 28, 2017.  Patrons attending this game may park in lots 127 and 128 only, which are the outter rings of the Convocation Center.  Please refer to the campus parking map for lot locations.  Parking for this event is only available until 10 pm.  Patrons must ensure they have vacated this area by 10 pm due to the Halloween Parking Restrictions. 

 

Alternative Parking (Off Campus)

Halloween Weekend parking is available at the Athens County Fairgrounds.  Gates open at 11 am Friday, October 27 and will remain open all weekend.  The cost is for the entire weekend (Friday – Sunday), and the fee is $10.  City buses will be running, and security will be on the grounds.  Parking areas will be well lit with a shuttle from your car to the buses.  Port-a-johns will be on the grounds.  Proceeds benefit the Junior Fair Program.  No advance sales please.  The Athens County Fairgrounds may be contacted via e-mail at fairdays@frontier.com or by calling 740-594-2771.
