Ohio University partners with Revature to train the next generation of tech talent

From staff reports | Sep 21, 2017

Ohio University and Revature, a leading technology talent development company, has announced a strategic partnership to provide OHIO students with free, hands-on technology training that will prepare them to fill critical gaps in the state’s workforce.

Revature will offer intensive online and on-site coding programs to teach OHIO students—and recent OHIO graduates—the diverse technology skills needed to help companies increasingly seeking employees with enterprise-level coding skills and mastery in new methodologies.

Graduates of Revature’s immersive on-site program, held at their headquarters in Reston, Virginia, gain the enterprise software development training to become more marketable in the new labor workforce, and companies gain access to highly skilled, career-ready tech talent. The partnership offers OHIO students and alumni free training that otherwise would cost thousands of dollars.

“Employers consistently indicate the need for more college graduates in STEM areas,” said Imants Jaunarajs, OHIO’s assistant dean of students for the Career and Leadership Development Center. “OHIO’s partnership with Revature is a great example of how the university is responsive to the hiring needs of employers.”

According to Jaunarajs, many regional employers, specifically those in the Columbus metropolitan area, have communicated their need for more highly-trained tech talent in recent years. Revature works with universities and employers across the country to address that void.

“With these programs, we’re addressing the skills gap head-on and creating a pool of talented software developers that have the enterprise-level skills needed to enter the workforce and make an impact on day one,” said Ashwin Bharath, Revature’s chief operating officer. “By partnering with OHIO, we are addressing the region’s demand for skilled software developers.”

“Our partnership with Revature will help OHIO graduates launch careers as well as fulfill our roles as a talent pool and driving economic force in the region,” Jaunarajs added.

Revature is a technology talent development company providing a turn-key talent acquisition solution for corporate and government partners and no-cost coding bootcamps for university graduates. Through in-person, online and on-campus coding immersion programs, the company creates a pathway for university graduates with diverse backgrounds to build the knowledge, skills and abilities to reach their potential as technology professionals.

Students who successfully complete the program are then employed with Revature, in an enterprise setting, along with industry certification and continuing education. With its unique talent development strategy, Revature successfully serves a wide range of Fortune 500 enterprises, government organizations and top systems integrators.
