Richa Bhatia received her Master's degree in Counseling (Clinical Mental Health), as well as a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Administration, from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She is currently a doctoral candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Ohio University and is licensed with the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Richa is from India and used to be a general physician practicing Alternative Medicine before coming to the United States. Before coming to Ohio University, Richa worked in clinical settings in California and Texas. She has served as a Service Coordinator at a mental health rehabilitation center in San Jose, California, and has provided therapy to college students in Texas at her previous university. She has also worked with international students as an International Student Advisor graduate assistant for 2.5 years. Richa's practice utilizes strengths-based models, compassion-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. She believes that self-compassion is an extremely important factor in coping with stressful situations which positively affects the quality of one's life. Richa's self-care practices include legos, gardening, going on small road trips, spending time with family and friends, and watching Studio Ghibli movies.
