Kaylee Wilkof

When Kaylee Wilkof participated in Healthy OHIO as a University spouse several years ago, she received test results that both saved and changed her life. As a result of her Healthy OHIO blood work results, her doctor was able to quickly diagnose her with Type 1 Diabetes and support her on a new wellness journey.

“Healthy OHIO was a lifesaver,” Wilkof says of the program. She encourages others to participate in the biometric health screenings as well, regardless of their perceptions of their own health. “Even if you think you’re healthy, you may not know your cholesterol or blood pressure. Your brain is really powerful and can talk you out of how you’re feeling, but it’s important to have a well check…plus, it’s free!”

Photo Description: Kaylee and her husband, Evan Wilkof (Operations Coordinator at Ohio University’s Baker University Center), are now advocates for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The couple, along with their daughter, participated in the JDRF One Walk in Columbus last month (photo taken on Kaylee Wilcof’s phone by her mother, permission of use was granted by Kaylee).
