Bird Ice Arena Programming Update

Bird Ice Arena programming, special events, and rentals will continue to be postponed through the 2020-2021 season- Including: Freestyle & Lessons, Drop In Hockey, and the Bird Arena Hockey League (BAHL). Student Rec Skate information can be found on the Skating Programs page. Bird Arena will not accept any rentals or reservations this season.

OHIO Men's Ice Hockey, ACHA Division 1

Due to COVID-19, there will be no tickets sold for in-person attendance at games and fans will not be permitted inside Bird Arena.

Bird Arena Hockey League

The Bird Arena Hockey League (BAHL) allows OHIO students and community members ages 18+ to play hockey in a recreational setting. The league is 4v4, co-ed and no checking (disruptive contact to opponent handling the puck), with one game per week. The cost is $150 (goalies play for free) and jerseys are provided. Free drop-in hockey and in person registration will be available during a BAHL Open House.

Drop In Hockey

Drop In Hockey is an open recreation, pick up hockey game time for all levels. No registration is required- Entry fee is $10.00 at the Front Desk. Full hockey equipment is required (helmet, neck guard, body pads, mouth guard, gloves, shin pads, specialized goalie gear, etc.) Equipment is not provided by Bird Arena. Athens Youth Hockey Association

Bird Ice Arena is the proud home of Athens Youth Hockey.  For more information about this program and how to get involved with Learn To Play Hockey, visit the AYHA website.

Learn To Play Hockey

New this year, all Learn To Play Hockey sessions will be ran by the Athens Youth Hockey Association (AYHA) in collaboration with the Columbus Blue Jackets. For more information, visit the AYHA website.
