The Ohio University Tennis Courts are comprised of four indoor courts and six outdoor courts. The indoor courts are covered by a 40-foot tent structure, allowing tennis enthusiasts to compete year round. Indoor and outdoor Pickleball courts are also available. Activities include general recreation, private lessons and tennis tournaments. The facility is open to Ohio University students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community.
Shoe Requirements
All marking, carbon-based running shoes and non-athletic shoes are prohibited.
What To Expect When Visiting the Golf & Tennis Center and Driving Range
GTC and Driving Range Staff- Staff members are all CPR/First Aid/AED certified student employees. Staff will always be located at the front desk and/or around the facilities. Please contact a staff member for all medical or facility support. First Aid supplies, AED, and fire extinguisher located in the Club House and Driving Range Trailer.
Indoor Tennis Center Climate- Indoor tennis/pickleball courts are heated to approximately 70 degrees. Indoor courts do not have air conditioning- fans will be on and garage doors will be open during warmer temperatures.
Animals and Pets- Animals and pets are not permitted at the Golf & Tennis Center or Driving Range facilities. Exceptions include service dogs and service dogs in training (4PAWS). For more information, please visit the University Service Animal Information Page.
Food & Drink- Outside food and drink permitted- Alcohol not permitted without valid university permit during special events only.
Parking- Patrons will receive a complimentary parking permit with purchase (OHIO Students & Fac/Staff not eligible for complimentary passes) Seasonal memberships include a season long pass. Patrons must provide license plate number and full name during check in at the front desk. Accessible parking spaces are available. Water & Restrooms- There are no water or restroom stations on the golf course. Water, restrooms, showers, and lockers located in the Club House. The Driving Range has a single restroom available.
Pro Shop & Rental Equipment- Golf and tennis supplies are available for purchase inside the Club House, including balls, tees, and limited merchandise. Tennis and pickleball rackets available to rent. The GTC does not rent golf clubs. Snack and beverage concessions available for purchase inside the Club House and beverage concessions are available at the Driving Range.
GTC Accessible Entrance/Exits- Paved parking lot with concrete ramp leading into the Club House. Club House and golf course doors equipped with automatic door opening buttons. Facility staff to assist with doors leading to indoor and outdoor tennis courts.
Golf Course Bridges- Paved bridge across the Hocking river between holes 2 & 3/6 & 7. Wooden bridge from hole 3 fairway to hole 3 green. Wooden bridge from hole 6 fairway to hole 6 green. Paved bridge from hole 7 green to hole 8 tee.
Driving Range Accessible Entrance/Exits- Unmarked gravel parking lot. Wooden ramp and deck to customer service window and single restroom.
Tennis Court Seating & Lighting- Indoor tennis courts include benches with no backs and chairs for seating. Outdoor Courts do not have seating available. Outdoor courts have lighting available during evening play.
Golf Cart Usage- Push carts and 2 seat gas carts with bag storage available. No handicap or wheelchair accessible golf carts available. All patrons must have valid driver’s license to rent a cart. Days of inclement weather will result in no cart usage- communication will be posted in the Club House.
Inclement Weather- Please see rain check policy listed above. Golf course and outdoor tennis courts will be closed/delayed opening due to frost, flooding, or inclement weather. The GTC and Driving Range is equipped with a Thorguard weather system- a loud audible alarm will go off for lightning and inclement weather to clear all outdoor course and court areas. One long horn will instruct patrons to take shelter and 3 short horns will provide the all clear to return back to activities. Patrons will be asked to take shelter inside the Club House.
Seasons- During the winter season from November – February, the golf course is walking only- riding gas golf carts will not be available- push carts available for rent. Only the North side (Holes 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9) will be open during the winter. The South side (Holes 3 - 6) will stay closed. Golfers will play the North side twice. Outdoor tennis/pickleball courts are closed for the November – February winter season.
