About the DWSP
What is the Dissertation Writing Support Program?
DWSP is a collaborative initiative created by the Dissertation Writing Retreat Planning Committee after receiving the Konneker Grant. The program expands the former retreat model into a full year support structure for writers who need routine, accountability, and research informed guidance.
The program is supported by:
- Thesis and Dissertation Services
- Graduate College
- University Libraries
- The Writing Commons via the Academic Achievement Center
- Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics
Together, these units provide writing spaces, structured sessions, and tailored support to help students progress with clarity and confidence.
Our Purpose
DWSP exists to:
- Create reliable writing routines
- Provide structured, distraction free time
- Reduce the workload stress that often slows dissertation writers
- Connect students with experts in writing, research, and project management
- Build campuswide support networks that make graduate writing visible and valued
