Thesis and Dissertation Services

Thesis and Dissertation (TAD) Services is a part of the Graduate College and processes all theses and dissertations for Ohio University graduate students. TAD Services assists students in meeting formatting requirements for publication, by reviewing theses and dissertations and granting final approval, as well as providing instructions for completing the final steps required for publication and graduation.

For many advanced degrees at Ohio University, the master's thesis or doctoral dissertation is a requirement. Nearly the entire TAD process can be completed online. This website houses all of the resources needed to meet Ohio University's publication requirements and complete the final steps before graduation.

Each student writing a thesis or dissertation must complete the TAD Process in order to graduate. The TAD Process Checklist [PDF] provides step-by-step guidance beginning with students sending a TAD Submission Form and thesis or dissertation to tad@ohio.edu.

Students completing their degrees through research papers or other capstone projects may not be bound to the deadlines and guidelines on this site. If there are any questions, please verify deadlines and requirements with your department or college. TAD Services is unable to assist students in completing research papers or projects with formatting or technical issues.

• Graduation Application Deadline: Monday, Feb. 17th, 2025
• Oral Defense Deadline: Friday, Dec. 20th, 2024
• Post-defense Format Review Deadline: Thursday, Jan. 2nd, 2025 at 12 Noon
• Final Clearance Deadline: Friday, Jan. 10th, 2025 at 12 Noon

Spring Deadlines

• Graduation Application Deadline (Thesis and Dissertation): Monday, Feb. 17th, 2025
• Spring Dissertation Oral Defense: Friday, March 14, 2025*
• Spring Thesis Oral Defense Deadline: Friday, April 4th, 2025
• Spring Dissertation Post-defense Format Review Deadline: Friday, March 21, 2025 at 3 p.m.
• Spring Thesis Post-defense Format Review Deadline: Friday, April 11th, 2025 at 3 p.m.
• Final Clearance Deadline for Dissertation: Friday, April 4th, 2025 at 3 p.m.
• Final Clearance Deadline for Thesis: Friday, April 25th, 2025 at 3 p.m.

*Please Note: This deadline falls during spring break, please plan accordingly.

• Graduation Application Deadline: Monday, July 14th, 2025
• Oral Defense Deadline: Friday, April 25th, 2025
• Post-defense Format Review Deadline: Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 12 noon
